PROFESSIONAL UPSKILLING COURSE FOR MOE MATRICULATION ENGLISH LANGUAGE LECTURERS AND APTIS ADVANCED EXAMINATION

 

Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with the English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) had graced Pahang Matriculation College from 5th to 8th February 2004 to carry out the Professional Upskilling Course for MOE Matriculation English Language Lecturers and APTIS Advanced Examination. The participants of the course comprised 15 English Language lecturers from Pahang Matriculation College, Pahang Engineering Matriculation College and Kelantan Matriculation College. The course was conducted by the facilitators from ELTC, Dr. Mimi Estonella Binti Mastan and Puan Viloshena a/p Ravandran@Ravindran. Puan Noorunnuha Binti Shahfuddin, the Assistant Director of Unit Pengurusan Sains Sosial, BMKPM was also present during the course. Puan Zuraishah Binti Zukri, from KMPh, acted as the coordinator of the course.

 

KARNIVAL SASTERA IKHTISAS & SAINS SOSIAL (SISS) 2004

Public Speaking & Choral Speaking Categories

 

In conjunction with the national level Karnival Sastera Ikhtisas & Sains Sosial (SISS) which was held in Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor from 1st to 2nd of March 2024, the English Unit of Pahang Matriculation College had organized a college level competition to discover suitable talents to represent KMPh in the Public Speaking and Choral Speaking categories. The college-level competition was carried out from 1st February until 22nd February 2004, involving preliminary rounds and actual competitions. The winners for each category successfully represented KMPh in the Karnival SISS 2024. Regardless, despite the sweat and tears in the quest for glory, the stars did not shine on our representatives. However, the experience collected through the journey maketh the sweetest glory. Congratulations to the Public Speaking and Choral Speaking competitions representatives!

Officiation Ceremony 3L

The English Unit of KMPh had successfully organized the Love, Language, Lift 2004 Programme which aimed at promoting communication skills, creative self-expression and cooperative values among students of KMPh. The programme was carried out on 9th March 2004 in Dewan Mat Kilau, KMPh from 8.30 a.m. until 12.30 p.m. and was officiated by the Director, Puan Latiza Binti A Latif. Puan Noorelsa Binti Kamarudin and Puan Ainunazli Binti Abdul Rahman acted as Coordinator 1 and Coordinator 2 respectively. Students had the chance to participate in 9 engaging activities; Pass The Story, Sound Poetry, Word Boom, Face Painting, Horror Voice Over, Big Book, Find The Weather, Cook Off Dash and No Send Letter.

THE CEFR-ALIGNED ITEM BUILDING WORKSHOP 2024

The CEFR-Aligned Item Building Workshop was conducted to provide exposure to the English lecturers of Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang (KMPh) and Kolej Matrikulasi Kejuruteraan Pahang (KMKPh) on constructing examination questions that are aligned with the latest Course Specification (CS) and accurately reflect the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) levels.

The CEFR-Aligned Item Building Workshop was held in KMPh on July 13, 2024 at Dewan Mini Oxford as a collaborative programme with KMKPh. This workshop was attended by 20 participants and featured 4 speakers. Puan Zuraishah binti Zukri and Puan Norzahana binti Zainol were the speakers from KMPh while Puan Sabrina binti Baharuddin and Puan Nurul Fariena binti Asli were the speakers from KMKPh.

The objectives of the workshop were to strengthen the skills of the English lecturers in the construction of up-to-date exam questions and to assist the English lecturers in gaining a deep understanding of how to develop examination questions according to the CEFR levels established by the Matriculation Division, specifically at helping students in achieving at least CEFR B2.

As a result of this workshop, it is hoped that it can help the matriculation college lecturers be successful in achieving the required proficiency and skills in question construction.

 

 

 

EDPUZZLE DEMO CLASS BY EHSAN GROUP

 

On 20th August 2024, a team from the publishing company, Ehsan Publisher, had presented the English Unit of Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang with an introduction of a web-based eLearning application, EDPuzzle. EDPuzzle is a useful teaching and learning option which allows users to select a video and customize it by editing, cropping, recording their own audio, and adding quiz questions directly to the video stream. EDpuzzle also allows for instructors to track, monitor, and grade students’ engagement with the videos created. Thank you Madam Sze Mei Kuah for an interesting sharing session. The appreciation is also extended to Mr. Rajan Thangavelloo and Madam Kong Yeen Sum from Ehsan Publisher for this valuable experience.
